We dont get up so early today as the late night in the young un's bars last night left us tired - too much ouzo drank ! We have breakfast served by Vasilia and again he marks some old villages and nice view points on our map.
We head off exploring and the first place we go to is called sunset beach. We follow the map and the road takes us out of Sadari, over a mountain andndown to the top of a huge cliff. We park the car and walk down a long zig zagging path carved into the cliff edge. When we reach the bottom the views of the sea and the cliffs is unreal - it looks like we are stood in an artists painting as it is so picturesque. It is quite windy today so we have our jackets on and the waves in the ocean are big white tops. We take a ton of pics.
After the sunset beach stop we drive to several old villages and at each one we park the car and wander around the back streets and little narrow lanes. The buildings are quite asmazing and very old. The places we visit see no tourists and the locals are very happy to see us and smile and wave as we walk around.
In one village we look over a small wall and there is a huge medeival cannon there - its about 12 ft long and is just lying on a cement block.
WE drive past acres of olive groves at the side of every road that we take. The olive tree has a weird twisty trunk and the leaves are tiny. The ground around the trees is covered in black netting and the olives drop off the tree when ripe and into the net where the workers collect them - its all done by hand.
LEmons and oranges are growing everywhere and almost every house with a large enough yard has at least one lemon tree growing.
We stop at a taverna in one of the villages for a late lunch and agan order some good greek grub. Tsatziki, garlic cheese bread, olives, greek salad (to die for !)greek roast potatoes and a mixed grill of meat from the charcoal bbq out back. Mmmmmm everything is so fresh and tasty we absolutely love the food in Greece as it is always prepared from scratch and is really freash. Not to mention the garlic content is huge - lovely but we must stink by now. On this holiday we sure are safe from vampires !!
After dinner we drive to a couple of mountain top view points before heading back to our apartments. The owner has the new movie Thor and we are watch it on the big screen with him at 8.30. ITs a good movie right up Glens street but Rhonda is not impressed. TOmorrow we are setting off early and will be driving into the capital Corfu Town which is very old and historic. More on that tommorrow.
